Two members of a construction crew were killed where they were working at the side of a busy highway. They were struck by a trailer that came loose from a company truck.

Although this fatal incident occurred on a hazardous roadwork site, it could occur anywhere a trailer is being towed without being properly secured. If your work involves trailers, make sure all related equipment is inspected regularly and used correctly. The correct hitch, properly used, is essential, as well as working brakes and lights.

Even a small utility trailer used for groundskeeping or yard cleanup can become a lethal weapon if it becomes detached from the towing vehicle
