A trailer broke away from the truck pulling it, rammed into a power pole

SORRENTO -- A trailer broke away from the truck pulling it, rammed into a power pole and knocked out electricity to residents near the Lake-Orange county line Wednesday morning.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a dump truck lost a trailer hauling a front-end loader about 11 a.m.

The trailer came loose and hit a power pole at State Road 46 and Wekiva Pines Boulevard, FHP spokesman Sgt. Jorge Delahoz said. It was unclear late Wednesday how many homes lost power.

Lance Bremer, 37, of Sanford told FHP investigators that he did not realize the trailer was missing until he arrived at his work site.

Charges are pending against Bremer.

Delahoz said power was restored within an hour.

Christine Dellert and Stephen Hudak of the Sentinel staff contributed to this report.
