For the second time in two days, an accident on Interstate 85 in Anderson County caused a massive traffic jam.

The accident happened at 1:41 Sunday afternoon at mile marker 6 in the northbound lane of Interstate 85 in Andersson County. Lance Cpl. Bryan McDougald of the South Carolina Highway Patrol says that a 2004 Ford Explorer driven by 27-year old Scarlet Brickhouse, of Virginia, was carrying a trailer with motorcycles on it. McDougald says that the trailer became loose and caused Brickhouse to loose control of the Explorer. The Explorer then went off a bridge and fell about 50 feet down the embankment and into a shallow creek.

Brickhouse and her passenger, Kevin McKeithan, extricated from the vehicle and airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. The accident caused a seven mile backup into Georgia and the interstate to be shut down for nearly three hours.
