HARDIN COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - A crash involving a runaway boat and trailer sent two people to the hospital.

Berry Vickers, 64, of Herod, Illinois was pulling a trailer with a pontoon boat on it north on Route 34 Wednesday afternoon, according to the Illinois State Police.

Vickers told police as he crossed a bridge just north of Karbers Ridge Road in Hardin County, the trailer and boat detached from his truck.

Police say the trailer and boat crossed the center line and hit 30-year-old Patricia Adkisson from Cave-in-Rock head on. She was taken to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana with major injuries.

Jonathan Anderson, 22, from Creal Springs was driving northbound behind Vickers. He suffered minor injuries.

Anderson was taken to Harrisburg Hospital.

Troopers cited Vickers with unsafe equipment and for improper or no safety chains.

All three drivers were wearing their seatbelts.
