No injuries after trailer overturns

From Staff Reports

No one was injured in an accident Tuesday morning in which a trailer overturned and the machinery it was carrying dislodged from the vehicle.

At 8:46 a.m. Tuesday, according to a Michigan City Police Department report, a white 1997 Freightliner FL 80 was southbound on Indiana 212 and attempting to make a right turn onto a ramp that exits onto eastbound U.S. 35.

As the truck began its turn, the trailer began to tilt, the report indicates, causing the pintie to break.

The Vermeer directional drill the trailer carried broke loose from the trailer. The trailer eventually came to rest upside down and the drill suffered moderate damage, according to the report.

The truck, which is owned by Ferguson Michiana Inc., Eau Claire, Mich., was driven by Trevor J. Ferguson, 30, Kalamazoo, Mich.

"It appears (the truck) was likely traveling too fast to safely negotiate the ramp," the police report indicated.
