DEARBORN COUNTY, Ind. -- Three people are recovering after a crash along Interstate 74 in Indiana.

The crash happened at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday near the 162 mile marker.

Officers said Larry Beamon, of Delhi, Iowa, was driving a 2004 Ford F-150 truck pulling an empty trailer when the trailer broke loose somehow.

As the trailer spun out in the eastbound lanes, it struck a 1993 Jeep Cherokee driven by Pandora Cook, 31, of New Castle.

Her Jeep blew out a tire, causing it to spin into the media.Cook was taken to Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville for treatment.

Chelsea Spradlin, 16, of New Castle was also taken to the hospital for her injuries.A second passenger in the Jeep, Jasmine McDonald, 20, of Rushville was flown to University Hospital in Cincinnati for non-life-threatening injuries.Beamon was not injured in the crash.The wreck is still under investigation.

State police at Rockview

Michael A. Anderson of Cleveland, Wis., was traveling west on I-80 in Snow Shoe Township on Saturday at 12:20 a.m. when the trailer he was towing began to sway. Police said his vehicle then went out of control and off the roadway and into the median where the vehicle flipped over.

Mr. Anderson and one passenger suffered minor injuries, while another passenger escaped injury.

Boat trailer disconnects, hits house

GRAND HAVEN TOWNSHIP — A boat out of water caused some damage on land Thursday afternoon.

A boat being towed north on Mercury Drive became disconnected from the vehicle that was hauling it at around 4:30 p.m., and the boat and trailer rolled into a house near the intersection of Mercury and Robbins Road, Lt. Mike Brookhouse of the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department said.

Only minor damage to both the boat and house was reported, Brookhouse said, and no one was hurt in the incident.

A vehicle pulling a trailer was northbound on Interstate 25 at 11 a.m. when the trailer started swaying, causing the driver to veer off the roadway at mile marker 173. The U-Haul trailer separated and rolled twice, causing heavy damage. No enforcement action was taken.

Horses Trailer Crashes

8/8/2009 - Near Pronghorn.

Horses were on the highway Friday night in Deschutes County after a truck and trailer go into a spin. A Dodge pick-up towing a horse trailer was northbound on Powell Butte Highway about six o'clock Friday night. Around the Pronghorn subdivision, the driver briefly looked away from the road and the truck and trailer went off onto a rough shoulder. She then over corrected, going into a clockwise spin on the highway. The pick-up rolled over onto its top. The trailer landed on its side and there were horses inside.

"Right after the crash the horse were out of the horse trailer they have gotten out of the horse trailer they were running in traffic on Powell Butte Highway," said Lt. Shane Nelson from the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office.

Traffic was down to one lane on the highway for about forty-five minutes. The driver was transported to Saint Charles with minor injuries, the passenger wasn't hurt, neither were the horses. They were taken away by a friend of the driver.

FANCY GAP, Va. — A woman was airlifted to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center after a one-vehicle accident Friday which also disrupted traffic on Interstate 77 for hours.

The accident happened about 2:50 p.m. in Carroll County near the 3.5-mile mark of southbound I-77 near the bottom of Fancy Gap Mountain, according to Trooper R.B. Phipps, the investigating officer with the Virginia State Police.

A woman from Florida was driving a pickup pulling a tagalong trailer, with her husband as a passenger, said Phipps, who was not reached until Saturday and did not have his accident report containing the names and ages of the pair.

The pickup, traveling in the right lane, went out of control, causing both it and the camper to overturn along the roadside. “It totally destroyed the camper,” said the trooper, who added that the pickup was totaled as well.

“They were already out when I arrived on the scene,” Phipps said of the couple.

The woman had a knot on her head and was bleeding, he said. She was airlifted to the Winston-Salem hospital, but her injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. The husband, meanwhile, was transported by a Carroll emergency crew to Northern Hospital of Surry County.

Phipps said the accident forced the closure of one lane of southbound I-77 for about five hours so the site could be cleared.

The trooper added that the woman first told him “crosswinds” had caused the pickup to go out of control. And when Phipps advised her that there was no wind at the time, she then said the wind off a tractor-trailer she had passed caused the pickup to get “loose.”

He charged her with reckless driving and failing to maintain control.

The Cana Volunteer Fire Department was among the agencies assisting at the scene, Phipps said.
